The Ladies Literary League of Lawrence, Kansas, was founded in 1882 as the Etesian Club, a women's reading club originally formed to promote culture and social intercourse. In 1890, the group's name changed to the Ladies Literary League (LLL). Those who didn't know what the initials LLL stood for often thought it meant the Lovely Ladies of Lawrence. The club continues to meet semi-monthly, September-May, to conduct business, hold book reviews and discussions; members also gather at luncheons to celebrate anniversaries of the founding of the club. This collection includes the club's records, correspondence, clippings, photographs, governance documents, yearbook/program books, secretary minute books, recipe book, reminiscences and histories.
